My mother and grandmother used to read to me from “Highlights Magazine”, point to the pictures and discuss each story. They told me they started reading to me when I was 18 months old. My favorite flash back is being stretched out on GrandMa’s bed, looking up at the ceiling fan and listening to her voice describe the latest story. This began my nap time for years, then she made me read those stories to her. They created a hopeless bookworm. Result; I measure my reading by the pound.
My solution to America’s literacy problem is Read To The Children until they can read back to you.

What a wealth of resources you have here! It will take me awhile to get through them all, but I’m excited to have it all at my fingertips!
